About Charles Nabit - Healthcare-Focused Investment Executive

Charles Nabit is a Deerfield Beach, Florida-based investor and business leader with more than three decades of experience in developing and leading healthcare operations. He served as the chairman and CEO of Developmental Disability Management Services (DDMS), LLC, from 1990 to 2022, during which time he grew the business to become one of the largest providers of financial and operational services to adults with developmental disabilities in the United States. Charles Nabit has also operated healthcare businesses with a focus on long-term care, home healthcare, retail and institutional pharmacy, and psychiatric and chemical dependency services.

 

Currently, Charles Nabit manages a substantial commercial real estate portfolio and facilitates venture fund and private equity transactions. He is the chairman and CEO of Southport Financial, LLC, an e-commerce business that provides electronic document creation, storage, and retrieval for financial services and healthcare operations. In addition, he is the managing partner at Westport Group, a closely held investment partnership focused on real estate and marketable securities. Charles Nabit has been with the firm since 1983.

 

Charles Nabit began his career at a Baltimore, Maryland-based law firm, where he worked as an associate in the real estate and corporate departments. Complementing his diverse experience in healthcare and financial services, he holds a juris doctor from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law (now William & Mary Law School) at the College of William & Mary and a bachelor of arts in English from the University of the South. He has been published in the American Journal of Trial Advocacy and received American Jurisprudence Book Awards in Torts, Constitutional Law, Secured Transactions, and Administrative Law.

 

Charles Nabit has displayed a commitment to helping others throughout his career. He launched The Nabit Foundation, Inc., in 1992 and continues to oversee its giving campaign. He also operates the seed-to-plate restaurant Mission Driven Dining and has served on the board of several organizations, including the B&O Railway Museum, the University of Maryland Children's Hospital, and BIC Educational Foundation.
